Work has officially commenced on the West Coast component of the Water Sector Strategic Development Project (WSSDP).
The project marks a major step forward in strengthening the resilience and reliability of Dominica’s water supply infrastructure, particularly in the face of increasing climate-related challenges.
Current Works in Progress
The first phase of the project is now underway with the rehabilitation of the access road to the Coulibistrie Intake. This critical infrastructure improvement will pave the way for subsequent phases, which include:
- Rehabilitation of the intake and sedimentation tank
- Installation of a new, more resilient supply pipeline designed to better serve the local communities
Community Impact
Upon completion, the WSSDP will significantly enhance water supply reliability for residents across several West Coast communities, including:
- Coulibistrie
- Morne Rachette
- Salisbury
- Grand Savanne
These improvements are part of a broader initiative to build climate resilience into Dominica’s essential infrastructure, ensuring a sustainable and secure water supply for years to come.
Looking Ahead
We are committed to keeping the community informed as this important project progresses. Stay tuned for future updates on the milestones ahead.
